Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Family of St. Albert the Great Parish,
The Lord's great commission to his apostles "go, make disciples" and his fervent prayer that "all may be one" have been understood from the beginning as a call for the Church to be "a loving communion of missionary disciples" in the world. That call was the motivation behind the June 10, 1959 founding of our parish "high on this friendly hill" by Fr. Winters. Likewise, the growth of that holy communion of disciples here was behind the dedicated leadership of our parish builder, Fr. John Viall, for over 30 years. Over the past five years, guided by "Vision 2010", I have encouraged a renewal of our parish ministries so that we might better respond to the call to “deepen and widen the communion of the Lord's disciples here!”
Deepening and widening the communion of the faithful here is a two-step process. The first step of deepening requires that each member of our community enter more deeply into the faith celebrated and lived here. The second step, widening, calls us to "turn outward" extending our renewed faith to our neighbors and our world. We are called to both deepen and widen the communion of the faithful in this place and time, here and now. I have a vision of what that might look like in the near future.
“Every One Add One” is a new vision of St. Albert the Great Parish as a deepening and widening communion of the faithful here that is everything that God has called us to be. "Every One Add One" (recognized by its logo +ONE) sees each ONE of our 3000 worshippers transformed into an “inviter of ONE other”. “Every One Add One” sees each renewed member of our parish becoming a welcoming doorway through which ONE other disciple might enter and be added to our holy communion here. This is the way of Church growth throughout the ages, “heart to heart, one believer to one other.” And we can do it now!. “Every One Add One” by 2016.
What “Every One Add One” by 2016 is asking of each of us is simple:
+RENEW your faith lived in the Church as communion! Each of us weekly worshippers can enter more deeply into our life with God in the Church at St. Albert Parish by…
I presented this Vision 2016 to our Parish Pastoral Council and asked their help in making it a reality for our parish. They establish six realizable goals for our liturgical life, our faith formation ministries, and our compassionate service. By implementing these six goals we will be much better prepared to make “Every One Add One” a reality by 2016.
By fulfilling this vision “Every One Add One” we will be faithful to the Lord's invitation to "go, make disciples" in our time, in this place, and we will do it like He did - one life at a time, person to person, heart to heart, in communion. Through the intercession of Mary, the perfect disciple, and our patron, St. Albert the Great, may Jesus' prayer that "All May Be One" be realized in the deepening and widening of the communion of all the Faithful here!
Peace in Our Communion, Fr. Estok
