Many of the earliest discussions among parish leaders and planners was related to the location of the parish offices and the parish life center on our parish property. The final decision to locate the PLC in the "center" of our 18 acres was made after considering several other options.
The most convincing argument for this central location was to expand the use of our largely unused property to make traffic, parking, and access easier, safer, and more convenient. Likewise, by discreetly connecting the new building to the rear entrance of the school building will make the many features and spaces within the PLC available to our day school and PSR students without having to travel outdoors.
The connection of the parish offices to the ministry space in the PLC was another important feature that recommended this final plan. From Sunday evening through Saturday afternoon, much of the pastoral ministry of the staff and ministries originates in the parish offices and flows into the meeting rooms. This new parish life center will keep these two important centers for work and ministry connected and separate from the congestion of school and church traffic.
The driveways and parking around the PLC will make close-in and accessible parking for the offices and the meeting rooms very convenient throughout the day. By entering off of Royalwood Road, people intending to go to the PLC won't be caught in church or school traffic regardless of the time of day or day of week. That is a result of our engineer's ingenius creation of the three zone traffic and parking system.
The location of the PLC adjacent to playground and green lawn spaces is another great innovation for our parish life. Parents, children, coaches, and athletes can used indoor plumbing toilets off the back of the center. Parents can walk on a treadmill in the fitness room while watching their children on the playground. Activities in the Great Hall will have the opportunity to flow out of the rear doors of the hall onto beautiful patio space and onto the lawn. This new facility will be a great place to relocate our annual Parish Picnic using all of these great features of parish hall, kitchen, restrooms, patio, playground, athletic fields and so much more.
