On the weekend of November 12 -13th we will take a special second collection for the relief of the hurricane Matthew Victims'.
The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and dioceses across the country have been asked by the leadership of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to hold an emergency second collection for the people and the Church impacted by Hurricane Matthew which devastated significant parts of the Southeast coast of the United States and some countries in the Caribbean, especially Haiti. Many government and social aid agencies, especially Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services have been working tirelessly to bring comfort and relief to tens of thousands affected by this disaster.
In times of tragedy, the Church is always a primary source of healing and peace. However, as is so often the case, the Church itself in these regions is both an aid responder and a victim. So many of the Church's structures have been damaged and their resources depleted. This makes it more difficult to provide aid and pastoral outreach to those in need.
All checks from parishioners should be made payable to Saint Albert the Great Parish with the check memo marked 2016 Hurricane Matthew Relief Collection.
